Fleeting
I often feel that within the making of a painting,
many small artworks appear in passing,
ephemeral and transient.
A spontaneous brushstroke, a first mark,
or a chance meeting of colors
can create brief, unexpected compositions.
Some disappear quickly beneath the next layer.
Others remain tucked in a corner, small, almost invisible
yet essential to the rhythm of the final piece.
These moments add balance, depth, and movement,
but their individuality fades as the painting evolves.
In this series, I give them space and permanence,
their own life and presence.
Photographed as they surface
and brought onto paper singular works,
later softened and enriched
with pastels, watercolors and oil sticks,
each image holds a brief instant of becoming.
